Jude Volek⏐Partner

Jude Volek is a former senior White House counsel and senior Department of Justice official who handles sensitive internal investigations, government enforcement actions, regulatory matters, and complex civil rights litigation. He draws on extensive government experience to advise companies, universities, and other organizations on crisis management and a range of complex legal challenges.

Jude counsels prominent corporations, universities, healthcare systems, and foundations on their most sensitive matters, including internal reviews following allegations of misconduct, investigations conducted by the DOJ, the Department of Education, the Department of Health and Human Services, and other government entities, and litigation challenging institutional programs and practices. His corporate representations have included advising large technology, telecommunications, and hospitality companies on internal investigations, government-facing investigations, workforce practice reviews, and comprehensive policy and compliance assessments. Jude also represents several institutions of higher education in high-stakes internal and government-facing investigations and other regulatory matters.

Before joining private practice, Jude served as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Associate Counsel in the Office of White House Counsel. In that role, he advised senior administration officials on a broad array of legal issues, including developing and implementing executive orders, presidential memoranda, agency actions, and other initiatives, ensuring compliance of executive actions with the Constitution and federal law, and advising on litigation and legal risk.

Previously, Jude served as Deputy Chief of the Special Litigation Section of the DOJ's Civil Rights Division, where he led complex investigations and civil litigation. His most notable matters included U.S. v. Ferguson, Missouri, and U.S. v. New Orleans. He received the DOJ’s highest honor – the Attorney General's Exceptional Service Award —and the Attorney General's John Marshall Award for Excellence in Litigation during his service.

Jude is also dedicated to pro bono work, representing non-profit organizations and advocacy groups in matters related to equity initiatives, grantmaking, and criminal justice.

After law school, Jude clerked for Judge Janet C. Hall of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and Judge Sandra Lynch of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
