E. John Paredes⏐Associate

John Paredes is an experienced litigator with an impressive track record of successfully advancing both public interest and complex commercial cases at the trial and appellate levels. He has represented companies in consumer and civil rights class actions, international commercial arbitration, and in internal and regulatory investigations.

John’s practice has also focused on safeguarding voting rights and democratic institutions. He has played a leading role in high-impact civil rights litigation, including serving as lead counsel for plaintiffs in Davis v. Cisneros, a federal case arising from the 2020 incident in Texas where a political campaign bus was targeted and harassed by a caravan of vehicles. A federal jury found the lead organizer liable under the 1871 Ku Klux Klan Act, the first modern jury verdict for election-related intimidation. In a companion case, John secured an unprecedented settlement with a police department that admitted fault and paid monetary compensation for failing to protect those targeted.

John earned his J.D. from Yale Law School and his B.A. from Yale University. He clerked for the Honorable Susan L. Carney of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Honorable Lorna G. Schofield of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
