Agbeko Petty⏐Counsel

Agbeko Petty is a seasoned litigator with experience across private practice and all three branches of the federal government. Her practice focuses on complex commercial and government-facing litigation, strategic counseling, and crisis management. Her work spans white-collar and regulatory defense, internal investigations, sanctions enforcement and compliance, national security, and constitutional and administrative litigation.

Agbeko has defended companies and individuals in Department of Justice and state investigations, led sensitive internal investigations, and litigated fraud and misconduct cases across diverse enforcement settings. She has represented clients across a wide range of industries, including technology, healthcare, finance, energy, and pharmaceuticals. Her litigation experience covers the full lifecycle of a case—from early strategic planning and dispositive motions through discovery, trial, and appeal. She has represented Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial litigation in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels.

Before joining DIR, Agbeko was a trial attorney in the Federal Programs Branch of the U.S. Department of Justice. There, she defended the Executive Office of the President, Cabinet officials, and federal agencies in high-stakes litigation involving national security, economic sanctions, and executive authority. She advised on litigation risk and represented multiple federal agencies, including the Departments of the Treasury, Defense, and State. Before joining the Department of Justice, Agbeko served as Democratic Counsel to the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, where she advised senior members on constitutional law, executive authority, congressional oversight, and civil rights and liberties, and led internal policy development on artificial intelligence regulation.
